This is Home-Start Dunfermline
Sometimes it is really tough being a parent and a little help can make a big difference. Home-Start provides an unique service for families - recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home. The families we support may experience isolation, illness, disability, bereavement or simply find parenting a struggle. You can now also find us on facebook: Home Start Dunfermline!
Home-Start Dunfermline covers South West Fife from Aberdour in the East to Kincardine In the West and from Inverkeithing and Rosyth in the South, to Townhill and Kingseat in the North as well as the city of Dunfermline. The M90 motorway forms the Eastern boundary to much of the area covered by the scheme, with the Firth of Forth forming the Southern border.
Many of the south West Fife villages are former coal mining villages, Dalgety Bay is a much newer town only being built in the 1960s. The population of the Dunfermline has increased in the last 10 years with the “Eastern Expansion” – a new community of housing, shops, schools and nurseries as well as leisure facilities. Throughout South West Fife and Dunfermline here are pockets of deprivation as well as areas of affluence. In a community profile completed in 2010 the highest number of Looked After Children and those on Fife’s Child Protection Register lived in areas covered by Home-Start Dunfermline.
